Scheduling Creativity?
It feels counterintuitive, but maybe it'll change my life!
Hi! I’m Becky, a former shop owner & independent artist, currently trying to reclaim my creativity. I love sharing small businesses, chatting about crafts and rambling about books.
Come hangout in this not-so-serious, cat-photo-filled, creative space!
It’s been a year of trial and error.
I started this Substack just over a year ago in an attempt to find my creativity again and maybe help someone else find their’s, too. As a former product designer and shop owner, creativity had been my job and I thought it would be easy to just slide back into the swing of things after a 2.5 year break.
Turns out! Not so much.
The last year has been both creatively fulfilling and totally exhausting. I don’t know if you’re like me, but my day-to-day can overshadow any well intentioned creative project. I’ve talked about it at length (here and here and probably here), so I won’t wax poetic today.
Just know that if I don’t make a concerted effort to work on creative endeavors, they will absolutely not get done. I can’t trust in the power “follow the energy” anymore because the energy will keep me distracted with laundry, tidying and scrolling my phone.

So!
My plan is to physically schedule playtime into my days. We’re starting with the #The100DayProject Newsletter because the timing is perfect! I’ve succeeded with multiple, year-long daily drawing projects on Instagram, but that was before I had a kid lol. I’ve not been able to stick with a daily project like that since, but this time I’m setting myself up for success and maybe you can come with me?
